This is a great start for a first game. It's not terribly complex, but it runs well and it's fun. It fits the classic feel of a roguelike too. I got used to using the numpad to move fairly quickly.
All in all, good job, and I look forward to more (especially a way to spend all that goooooold).
If you have the Java Runtime Environment installed (the same thing you'd need for games like classic Minecraft), you should be able to just double-click on the .jar file to run it. Alternately, from the command line, 'java -jar first-hero-20240126a.jar'

Love the game so far, great to see another classic roguelike!

I downloaded and unzipped it and cannot find any way to actually launch it. Did you forget to include the executable?

If you don't have the JRE, you can install it from https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
